Gunvault Gun Safes finding one that suits you best

I’ve been working with Gunvault Gun safes for well over 20yrs, there have been design changes, improvements and even corporate changes.   There are several other brands out there but they may not be best for accessing a firearm quickly.   From my personal experience, there isn’t much of a need to keep a gun in a bedroom that isn’t locked up.  My biggest concern with bedside guns is, what if you aren’t in the house?  The bedroom is the first place the bad guys go for jewelry and other valuables, not leaving a gun around is a good thing.

Recently we have had several seminars in our store about Concealed Carry, people need to know that there are some places you can’t carry a firearm and you might have to lock your gun up in your car.   You also need to know how easy it is to break a window and grab that firearm that is stuffed under your seat.   The Gunvault gun safe that is a good fit as  a car safe is the Gunvault Nanovault.   They are in the $40 price range and you can use the wire cord to wrap around a car seat and through the safe to secure it.   Illegal guns end up on the streets through Straw Purchases or theft, so don’t make it easy for the bad guys.

Yes you can lock up your guns and still protect yourself in a timely manor

There are plenty of things in the industry that are debatable, you can argue about 9mm vs 45acp, you talk about direct impingement guns being unreliable and that are piston driven guns are better.  Well, one thing that is not a debate is protecting kids from firearms.   That previous statement might stir up some people but not every child has the competency and maturity to handle anger.    Some kids are mature enough to access firearms at young ages and there have been plenty of times that young people have used firearms to defend their homes.  A few months ago a 12yr old girls used a shotgun to stop a burglary and there have actually been defensive shootings where minors have used guns in their own homes.

I realize that some people may have serious security issues and may want a gun as close to them as possible but I personally have seen sleep walking incidences that make me glad some people don’t keep guns by the nightstand.  My primary gun safes are the gunvault safes and even though there have been several generations of them, they are reasonable priced and easy to store.   I have my Remington safes that practically need a crane to get them in the house but the Magvault gun safes don’t take up much room and are easy to put full size guns like the Glock 21 in them or a Sig 238.

Gun safety and threat levels

I am a big proponent of carrying firearms for self defense but even if someone is training with me I still will never tell them that they must carry a firearm at all times.   There are a lot of liabilities to carrying firearms and people with certain personalities and character traits can become a liability to the image of responsible gun ownership.  Each of us has a different job in life and some jobs are more dangerous.   Threats of retaliation from gangs is something that occurs when good citizens stand up against them and even recently in Philadelphia a woman was murdered for being a witness to a murder.  What a horrible situation Philadelphia has become.

There are different levels of maturity for each child and it’s up to the parent to determine when a child can handle certain tasks, but leaving firearms around where any child has access to them is a bad idea.  Gunvault gun safes has more than just gun safes for you to consider for home defense.   You can hide and lockup a Carbine or a shotgun if you are creative enough and still have easy access.   There are plenty of non-lethal devices to deploy around your home for young adults to consider in a hostile situation.  CO2 Fire extinguishers are a great example of something that could be used against a break in.

Is your wifes jewelry locked up?

I have suggestion for all of my friends with firearms that are looking to get another gun safe or want to upgrade to something better than what they have.   I have an older model gunvault gun safe that I have to admit, is pretty out dated and there are some design flaws that have been addressed by the newer models.   When the batteries get weak on the older model, the door does not always kick open and after having a failure, I did some research and got a newer one.   A gun safe should be as reliable as a firearm and if you have one that is  not, get rid of it.

All of us have different financial backgrounds, but for those of you that have an investment in jewelry, talk to your wife about locking up all of here diamonds and gold and put it in a gunvault gun safe.   The benefits of putting it in something like this is that it will be somewhat fire proof out of sight, but be easy to access when she’s getting all dolled up for a night out on the town.   If it’s easy to get out, it’s easy to put back in.   For only about $100 you can both lock up a firearm or diamond necklace in the same place.  The deluxe models can easily handle 2 or 3 firearms and your wifes stuff.

Got kids? Lock your stuff up!

GunVault Gun SafesThere has been a major shift in the attitudes of a lot of gun owners.   I remember the days when gun owners would never want to have to think about locking their handgun in a safe, especially if it was their bedside pistol.    Back in the day, we all had Grandfathers that kept guns laying around, but the stats show that accidents happen and kids will find them if they are not locked up.   If you don’t have kids around this is a none issue, but if you do, you may want to do some thinking.

What happened that changed peoples attitude about locking guns up?   Well, technology has caught up with the reasoning for having quick access to a handgun.   Years ago a gun safe meant using a key or combination to open and that can be cumbersome and slow if you really had to get to your gun at 3am.    GunVault gun safes have been through a few updgrades in the last few years and the safes they are putting out now are much better than the ones they had a few years ago.   The Key pad buttions are easier to feel and like all things,  a little practice time and your hands will do what they need to without thinking.   There is also a biometric version that can read your fingerprints which elimates the possibility of a kid gaining access to your guns.  The GVB200 will open up at soon as you place your hand on the sensor.

Handling Guns with Care and Respect

gun safesAs a lifelong gun owner, I’ve always recognized the importance of treating firearms with care and respect. We’ve all heard the horror stories about what can happen when people are negligent or foolhardy; when a gun is involved, there’s no room for horseplay. From the moment my daughter was born, I vowed to pay extra attention to firearm safety. I purchased a gunvault safe and kept all my pistols under lock and key.

Still, I think it would be a mistake to promote a child’s ignorance about firearms. Once they are old enough to uphold certain responsibilities, I believe they should be ingrained with an understanding of the power guns contain. That way they learn to operate guns safety and with great care. It should be up to each individual parent to handle that situation the way he or she sees fit, of course.

The Benefits of a Gun Safe

gun-safesThey can also be used for safekeeping of our money, jewelries and important documents.  Unintentional gun injuries to our loved ones inside the house can be surely prevented when the weapons are kept securely inside the safes. These fire-proof vaults also protect the valuable things stored in the safe from being destroyed by the blaze due to fire or arson.

Full protection of our homes, offices and properties from burglary cannot be assured even by government authorities. Hence an additional protection for our priceless belongings including, and most especially, our weapons can be possible with the use of safes. Gun safes are secure storage equipment for guns.
