Tru-Spec Cool Camp shirts, might want to work these into your wardrobe

Tru-Spec Cool Camp Shirts

We’ve seen a lot of CCW clothing come and go in recent years, one of the biggest problems we see is cost of manufacturing, changes in the market and poor marketing.   So much of the CCW clothing is still too tactical to be low profile.   One of the major reasons we became a dealer for Tru-Spec is when I personally ordered clothing for myself to try on, it was actually the same size and that Blackhawk and Woolrich Elite were.   There are always fit and design differences and it’s very hard to make a shirt that fits everyone because tall and short sizes are what people really come in.   When it comes to hot weather, much of the Country resorts to t-shirts and shorts and if you are IWB or OWB  you have to be careful you aren’t printing which can and does have all kinds of ramifications.

In regards to printing, we have people constantly expect us to give them a magic holster that is comfortable and doesn’t print, but our response is always, you have to “dress” to the firearm that you wish to carry.   If you are looking for an extremely lightweight and breathable CCW shirt, definitely the Tru-Spec Cool Camp Shirts, which to sum up quickly, is a good cut, for CCW.   The Cool Camp Shirts are a 2nd version that Tru-Spec has made, we’re hoping to see more of this because this is the closest thing to any of types of products the now discontinued Woolrich Elite Series shirt inventory had.

Switching from pants to shorts and cold weather to warm weather check out Tru Spec Shorts in this year

Tru Spec Eclipse ShortsTru Spec 24-7 SERIES MEN'S 9" SHORTSTru Spec Simple Tactical ShortsI’ve got as much variation in tactical clothing in my wardrobe as I do with holsters sitting in a box in my closet.  Some products I hardly wear but keep around for nostalgia like digital camo or lizard pattern military jackets.   I’ve got different fabrics, different fits and and occasionally where them.   Then there are the things I wear all the time and usually have to replace every couple of years.  It’s close to 4yrs I’ve had Tru Spec products in my rotation and I’ve often found that the number of styles I and colors is building up.   The cotton canvas pants are better for winter weather but the 65%/35% polyester cotton ripstop material can get you through most of the year probable 45F-85F, after that, depending on your heat tolerance, you might want to switch to the 100% nylon pants like the Tru Spec Eclipse pants.

When talking about wearing shorts, the Tru Spec 9″ poly/cotton ripstop shorts are our #1 selling shorts and the waist sizing is the same at the pants so it’s an easy switch over from Tru Spec pants to Tru Spec Shorts.   Last year Tru Spec added the Tru Spec Eclipse shorts to their inventory which is a different cut, does not have an elastic waistband and is extremely lightweight being made in the 100% nylon, if you are pocket carrying I would suggest going with the darker colors because since this made of such a lightweight material you may find “printing” depending on how good of a pocket holster you are using.

Looking for utility friendly pants without BDU pockets? Try Tru Spec Mens Classic Pants

Tru Spec Mens Classic PantsEvery once in awhile we get people that come to our store because we stock a lot of the things that people don’t like to buy online namely, clothing and holsters.   Now that Tru Spec has gained so much ground in the competitive tactical clothing market it pays to be stock different styles.  It’s pretty much assumed that most of our customers are gun owners, and carry firearms, but not everyone does.   There are a considerable number of people that just like where various tactical pants because they need it for the tools or job they do for a living.  Having pants with  pockets that are friendly to carrying knives or multitools without punching holes through them or un-necessary wear is not common at a shopping mall.

One of the popular styles that we are going to stock more of are the Tru Spec Mens Classic Pants because they have all of the utility applications of many of the tactical pants “without” a BDU pocket which is usually the dead giveaway that your a Cop or Military personnel.   There is a hidden zipper pocket on both legs that come in handy when  you are driving a car or on trip on a plain, or just don’t need a pocket as large as most BDU pants.   The best thing about this style of pant  is that if you are already where the other 24/7 pants you aren’t going to have trouble with sizing like you would with other brands, consistency in sizing is something that we’ve always liked about Tru Spec products.

Tru-Spec Outwear, Softshell Jackets, Parkas and Polar Fleece

TruSpec OuterwearI’ve been in the tactical clothing industry for over 10yrs and at first it just wasn’t my thing because I didn’t really fit into that tactical ninja look.   I’ve been amazed to see how the image of product and what it is used for can change just by wearing a different color.   We sell a lot of the coyote color Softshell jackts and even the 24/7 Tactical pants to plumbers, landscapers and hunters.  The differences in image for the M65 Jackets from Woodland Camo, Black and Brown all give a different look even though the pocket designs and usefulness are the same.

There are several people making softshell jackets but the one thing we always found Tru-Spec to compete in is there  quality control and price point.   We see a lot of over priced products in this market but one stable factor in all of the Tru-Spec outerwear product line is the fact that Tru-Spec owns there own factories and if they need something made they get inventory back to dealers faster than the majority of the others we have dealt with

When many people think about camo pants, it’s usually the BDU type that you can get with the draw string bottoms and the adjustable sliding straps for your waist.   One thing we have found out recently is that since Tru-Spec came out with the Multicam 24/7 pants, many of our customers prefer the pocket patterns of this pant than the military style BDU.  Now that people are carrying knives, flashlights, cell phones ect, you don’t want those large BDU pockets where all of your stuff if floating all around and can fall out.

The pants have internal pockets inside the BDU pockets for smaller objects, the velcro seems to be much stronger than other BDU pants and far more secure, there are small knife or flashlight pockets high up on the sides and these are going to be far more useful than any of other BDU Multicam Pants we sell.  These TruSpec Multicam Pants will match up with the Tru-Spec multicam combat shirts, whether they are the standard combat shirt, 1/4 Zip combat shirt or the Winter Combat shirts.   We have large selection of these since our sales data still says that Multicam is the number 1 camo people are wanting.

Where do you stow your gear in the Winter? Tru-Spec Outwear has lots to offer

Tru-Spec Polar FleeceTruSpec Tactical Soft ShellTru-Spec Element JacketTru-Spec Grid Fleece Zip Thru Job ShirtHere in Pennsylvania we never know what we are going to get as far as Winter weather, some winters are mild and in my lifetime we’ve gone up to 7yrs with very little snow fall, and then, we have Artic winters like we did in 2014 and 2015 and that heavy winter jacket you hardly use is the most important thing in your closet.   Things have changed as far as comfort in cold weather, with Under Armor becoming a staple in people’s homes to various other clothing manufacturers making products with similar fabrics and designs.  The Tru-Spec Softshell jackets can get you through most of the winter with you just needing a hat and gloves and base layer, and the design of the jacket for the standard soft shell has zip open areas where you can still access your flashlight, gun, magazines or knives while still being bundled up.  Having the waterproof shell makes it even versatile in rain or snow.

Other things to check out are the Tru-Spec Grid Fleece Pull Over Zip Through Job shirt which we are considering the replacement for the Woorlich Elite Half Zip Sweatshirt that we sold for over 10yrs and many of our customers are extremely disappointed by that, but this should be an easy transition over to Tru-Spec Outwear and Jackets.  The Tru-Spec Elemement Jacket is a 2 in 1 jacket, you can wear the outer shell as a rain coat, zip attach the liner for a winter H20 jacket or just wear the inner liner as a jacket for Fall or cold Spring mornings, we’ve been around the tactical clothing market for over 10yrs and we put our money where our mouth is and highly recommend Tru-Spec products since they are often compared to 5.11 they beat 5.11 on Quality Control and Price.

Tru-Spec Pants, the differences in material and comfort zones

Tru-Spec PantsSometimes our customers are told what to buy, and sometimes it’s at their discretion.  Color usually matters and in this industry it’s almost always Khaki or Black, but then it’s our turn to pitch some options.   We work with people doing everything from Prison Security, SWAT Training, Concealed Carry, Home Inspection Workers, Landscapers, Electricians and more.   They are sometimes wearing the exact same so called “tactical pants”.   Cell phones have really changed a lot and often the design of the pockets and it’s relationship to which cell phone someone is using is what actually sells the product, but sometimes the pockets are excessive for what people are using them for and when you have those large BDU type pockets, especially if you are wearing black pants, you are going to have that Ninja SWAT look.

Changing up the color to Tru-Spec’s Stone or Coyote color can really change the image you portray.  There were several new designs that came in the last year that have really gained attention, first the Tru-Spec Eclipse pant, which is available in the 65/35 Polycotton ripstop or the 100% nylon which really out sells the previously mention material.  I would classify the Eclipse pant and an Ultra Lightweight design but check out the pocket layout because the really lightweight material is going to cause anything you are carrying in the pockets to print.  I have seen the trend towards the stretchy fabric that everyone seems to want in their pants and even though I hear a lot about the 5.11 Stryke Pants which are about $70, The Tru-Spec Pants that I’d rather wear are the Tru-Spec Ascent pant due to the much better pricing at about $59.95.

Spring is right around the corner, Check out what’s new from Tru-Spec Tactical Clothing

Multicam PantsTruSpec Ascent24/7 Series Mens Tactical PantsEclipse Pants
We picked Tru-Spec several years ago to be our primary clothing line for a reason.   Our customer base appreciates a stocking dealer that has consistent sizing.  You do have to pay attention to the different fit and materials that all of the products come in because there are differences.  Some of the Multicam pattern BDU pants are different fits than the 24/7 Series.  You’ll know it when you move around and the pocket patterns are also very different.   I’m more of a fan of the boot cut pants and the NEW Ascent pant just based on the look, feel, and pocket patterns.   There are times I want to get my cell phone off my belt and access it in the open side leg pocket.  This seems to be a pattern that many other Tactical Clothing companies are designing towards but inconsistent quality control and availability are why we choose Tru-Spec over the others.

Now that Spring is right around the corner, there will be a trend away from the heavier cotton canvas style pants towards the Polyester Cotton Ripstop and the newly introduced Eclipse pant which is made of an extremely lightweight nylon material.  With the weather we get here in Pennsylvania, we can quickly go from Artic weather to 100F Summers.  Being able to wear the sames size 24/7 Series pants and just change up the materials they are made of helps keep your arrangement of gear, consistent.   I’ve lost and almost lost knives, flashlights and other devices because I had to move things around and they ended up falling out, so I’ve been slowly clearing out other brands and using more of the Tru-Spec Clothing.   We highly suggest trying out the Tru-Spec 24/7 Tactical Pants and the Tru-Spec Ascent and Tru-Spec Eclipse pants.

Shirt Options, CCW, Law Enforcement and Uniform,Tru-Spec Shirts

TruSpec 1/4 Zip Combat ShirtsTruSpec ShirtsNot everyone gets into the tactical shirt wardrobe like I do, but usually at Law Enforcement Events or Conventions I dig a little deeper into what I don’t normally wear.   I have so many brands of clothing but as things wear out, I am very picky about what I replace them with.   It seems most of our EMS and Law Enforcement want something a little stiffer which is why so much of this industry is of a polyester cotton ripstop of various weights.   If you go for a 100% cotton shirt, get use to ironing your clothing, and the last thing most of our customers want to deal with is ironing so we cut a lot of those types of products out of our inventory.  I will tell you that since most of this market is going to be wanting lightweight, you definitely should consider checking out the Ultra Lightweight Field shirts and if you need a uniform looking shirt the Ultra Lightweight Uniform Shirts which are available in Black, Brown, Navy, OD Green and Khaki colors.

Airsoft is an exploding industry and even though I haven’t quite caught on to it, I see it trickling into the Law Enforcement Community even though you might be as likely to see a kid show  up in our store looking for Multicam Black Combat Shirts or the coming soon, TruSpec Shirts in A-Tacs patterns.  The TruSpec Camp Shirt is probable one of the better CCW Shirts because as a lightweight Summer carry shirt that is cut long and a little loose you might like this shirt just as a dress shirt and not piss off your wife for buying more G.I. Joe looking clothing.    Even though it’s a little early for cold weather clothing, it is just around the corner and the Tru-Spec Winter Combat shirts will be in stock in full force, especially after we had a shortage of Winter weight shirts after last years Artic Weather.   There are a ton of local Police Departments wearing this during training here in the Tri-State area and we expect to have a good selection here in October.   The Performance Polos have gotten very good reviews and even though they may be too lightweight for winter, throw a long sleeve one in just to get through a little more of the year.

Tru-Spec Multicam and Camo Options and A-Tacs patterns around the corner

There are many reasons to wear camouflage but not always is it to hide you.  I don’t know how many times I’ve seen hunters with $150 camo suits on but then they have the bright orange vest that out them.   Well, from my experience, some of those zip up one piece suits have a lot of utility applications and I actually use a Tru-Spec Assault Suit in Multicam because it’s got even more pockets and utility than most hunting suits, cost a pretty penny, but it works for Archery Season and depending on the environment you are hunting in, you don’t always have to have an orange vest on, during rifle season it’s another story.   We have a lot of cross overs in this industry with Paintball and Airsoft and have plenty of adults buying the Tru-Spec Multicam, Tru-Spec All Terrain Tiger and even there broad selection of other camo pants in Urban Digital and the woodland camo.  Somtimes it fun to get an entire team on the same page with the same patterns so you know who’s on your side.

Hiding yourself and living up to the definition of camouflaging yourself can be very difficult.  Depending on the environment you are in, which can change if you in the woods or on a hillside isn’t going to happen most of the type, you’d need a cloaking device.   Part of Sniper training in the military is being able to adapt to the environment you are in and you are not going to be sent to the field with your camo, you’re going to have to put it all together yourself and make sure it works.   There are some people that love the Tru-Spec BDU Shorts in various camo patterns just for the look but there are much newer patterns coming out lately.   This past year there were several new pants available in Multicam and the new Multicam BlackMultiCamBlack A-Tacs.   We recently read that there are new Tru-Spec A-Tacs patterns coming out and they are very much a technological advancement in clothing and far advanced from the Digital Patterns of the past.   The best thing about having Paintball or Airsoft Tactical Clothing is you can basically wear the same thing during hunting season.
