Combat Ready Relic

Wilson Combat MagazinesModern firearms are pretty much superior to everything that was designed a generation ago.   Some people get stuck in the past and might think that a P51 Mustang is equal to an F117 Stealth fighter and then everyone just smiles at grandpa and listens to his stories.    Manufacturing has become superior to what it was 20yrs ago in many ways, but the rifles and handguns of WWII just don’t hold up to what is getting kicked out in Modern Military terms.

When it comes to personal defense, a 5 shot revolver may be all you need.   A 5 shot semi-auto may be all you want.   One thing you can never write off is 7 or 8 shots of 45acp in a reliable semi auto that is clearly more reliable and polished than what your relatives ran around with in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.   Wilson Combat Magazines increases your feeding of the 1911 and helps accurately guide your ammo into the chamber and send it downrange.   I’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of reloading for my 1911s and although I know there place in weapon history, there there when you need them.

Tactical Pants cut down

Tactical PantsMost of us that are in the industry are wearing some sort of tactical pants or ccw pants for most of the year.  When it gets into the summer months we have to think about losing some of the accessories and gear or having to sweat it out.   For most of the year, lightweight pants are a good option even if we know we’re going to be sweating it out, it’s good to have pants that can protect you from poison ivy or bug bites.

If have the ability to avoid wearing pants and we can get away with shorts, the fit and design of the Eotac lightweight tactical shorts are superior to anything we’ve worn from any other company.   I know 5.11 tactical pants some good stuff, but lets be honest, they’ve gotten pretty bad in the quality control department and i’ve had issues with their tactical shorts riding up in the crotch.   If this happens when we wear pants its one thing, but when your nuts are hanging of your shorts, it’s not very professional.   Due to demand, the style 301 shorts are made in a 9″ inseams and the 302 are a 7″1/2 inseam.   Ever body is going to prefer one over the other because were all  made differently.

Operator Gloves and others

Vickers GlovesI still remember the days when I thought that fingerless gloves were tactical gloves, well they kinda sorta are in some ways.     It’s good to always know why you really need gloves because there is no such thing as a do it all glove.   Some gloves are going to be big and bulky because if they aren’t your fingers are going to freeze up and fall off when its reall cold out.   If you’ve ever noticed, most of the Com-bloc firearms have larger trigger guards for this very purpose.

Hunting gloves are not very descriptive because they can pretty much mean anything.   Loading a shotgun with just about any winter glove is possible, but try loading .223 bullets in a magpul P-mag and you’ll wish you could just use your bare hands.  Vickers Gloves are designed by the well known firearms instructor and these are hands down the best full coverage tactical glove we’ve tried.   Tactical gloves like this will protect you from a level of debris and heat and yet you’ll still be able to feel every millimeter of your trigger pull as well as every button and lever on your AR15.

Casual pants with a tactical appeal

Tactical PantsIf you are toting around a knife, flashlight, gun, keys and a wallet, you might find regular jeans are pretty stuffed in the pocket area.   If you have to tuck a shirt in you’ll be even more cluttered.   Many recommend avoiding the clip on knife in the pocket as a dead giveaway that you are carrying, so what do you do?   If you are familiar with the Eotac Style 204 cotton canvas pants, the Eotac style 205 concealed carry pants are identical but made in a jean fabric.

These tactical pants have a side leg pant pockets on each side that can hold a small J-frame, Kimber Guardian Angel, mace, G2 or scorpion size flashlight or just about whatever tool you want to carry in that size.   This is something to consider when doing a lot of driving or accessing gear while in the seated position.   From my experience the zippers are very secure and reliable.   The jeans are very comfortable and not the purplish blue that many of our customers complained about with a previous companies version.

As the weather warms up

Tactical ShirtsThe Style 403 has a single pocket on the upper left of the shirt that can hold sunglasses or lightweight gear.   See our sizing guide for your check and waste measurements.    These shirts tend to run a little longer to help conceal gear at the belt line.   Both the 403 and 4 pocket 404 shirt are available in Black, Natural, Light blue, Red and yellow.   I would recommend trying atleast 3 colors to add to your wardrobe.   With a shirt as lightweight like this, I wouldn’t hesitate to try the black shirts for summer carry.

Consider trying on one of the lightest weight conceal carry shirts you can wear.     The Eotac styles 403 and 404 Tropical shirts are as lightweight and breatheable as a t-shirt yet they are more stylish and appropriate for CCW than a Iron Maiden T-shirt at your cousins college graduation.   The front bottom button is  a false button and breaks open to make this CCW shirt a lightweight tactical shirt that allows you to access a firearm or gear without the fear of snagging.

Summer Tactical Operator Pants

Tactical PantsIf you haven’t heard them called that yet, maybe we should coin the phrase.    Eotac’s Lightweight Operator Grade tactical pants are the pants you should be wearing if you are taking a Carbine class this summer.   I was watching the Magpul Art of the Tactical Carbine and noticed just about every operator we saw on the DVD was pulling mags from a vest, chest rig or belt.   There were several shooting postions we noticed where and Operator was laying on their side and reloading mags.

The Style 201 lightweight operator grade pants are made of 100% cotton ripstop.   Ripstop material came about after WWII in the Pacific War.   These pants are capable of holding  up to 6 loaded 30rd AR magazines in the pants and make accessing mags and reloading on the ground easier that pulling from a chest rig.  Style 201 pants are available in Black, Khaki, OD Green, Navy and now the Digital Camo pattern.   These pants also accept knee pad inserts and use the same pads as the style 202 and 202 pants do.

Man vs. Gravity

trajectory

Many hunters select their weapon of choice based on its reputation for accuracy. No rifle can boast perfect accuracy, but all gun manufacturers strive to minimize the potential for error. Accuracy is most commonly measured in terms of bullet trajectory, also referred to as minute of angle.

Minute of angle measures the exact amount, in degrees, that the bullets are tugged down from their original target. Gravity begins to affect a bullet’s path the instant it leaves the gun barrel.. However slightly, the bullets are being tugged down toward earth in a rainbow shape. One of the best ways to account for this is by using quality tactical rifle scopes.

Tactical Pants with a Warranty

Tactical PantsWell, one thing to think about when settling on an apparel line is this, how many of your tactical apparel companies are offering a Warranty like this:  “EOTAC’s products are of superior quality and come with a full warranty to the original owner. If our garment or accessory ever fails due to a material or manufacturing defect, even after extended use, we will repair the product, without charge, or replace it at our discretion. This warranty does not cover damage caused by accident, improper care, negligence, normal wear and tear, or the natural breakdown of colors and materials over time and use. Damage not covered under warranty will be repaired or replaced for a reasonable rate and a fee will be charged for return shipping. This warranty gives you specific legal rights; you may have other rights, which vary from state to state”

We deal with the crowd that actually gets down and dirty on the range and in the field when it comes to tactical clothing.    We probable get a couple phone calls a week from people mentioning they “blew the pants out at the range today” and then they name the tactical pants brand, the style ect.    The tactical apparel market has been exploding and we have to admit there are some good quality pants out there, but the price differences are pretty extreme.

Lightweight pants vs standard weight

Woolrich Elite PantsThere is a huge difference in what kind of pants are tolerable in warm enviromnets.   Once you start hitting the 80 F weather those cotton canvas pants will really get heavy.    The styles 4441 and 4447 are your hot weather pants, and if those are too hot to wear, try the shorts.   Everyone has varying degrees of tolearance in the type of apparel they can wear.   We’d consider the 4441 pants to be the most worn unless you’re taking a carbine or tactical class or you’re toting and M16 or Ar15 all day, and then we’d recommend the style 4447 Lightweight Operator pants.

Woolrich Elite pants are made of either 100% cotton ripstop or 8.5oz cotton canvas.   I’ve seen 5.11 makes pants that are supposedly made of the same material and weight, but there is a felt difference.   The standard weight pants are styles 4904 and 4429, these pants are the most commonly used Woolrich Elite Pants followed by the 2 styles that are made of the ripstop material.  The 4904 pants are being listed on clearance for $25 and are a deal.
