Generation 3 Magpul Pmags hitting the market

magpul 30rd pmags for saleThis year was a year to remember and it looks like the famed Magpul Pmags are enemy number 1 of the anti-gun crowd.   It’s amazing to watch people demonize an object and put down the blame that 10rds vs. 30rds has any impact on gun crime.   We’re hearing from Law Enforcement customers that are annoyed the things that they need are becoming so hard to get.   Given that we here at Rogue Elite have the gift of foresight, get ready for the Magpul pmags that are going to end up back in stock on all of these gun auction sights. The panic buying is over and it’s time to replace your old AR15 magazines.

Standard Capacity magazines may be affected in certain States and shockingly in Colorado where Magpul is most likely going to have to relocate.  I got to hold the new Magpul 30rd magazines for sale at a convention in South Carolina a few weeks ago and got the whole low down on them.  I have no idea why the United States Government doesn’t have these as standard issue.  Now that any of the fit arguments are over Magpul as a company should be considered an asset to our Nation and not be getting kicked out of a State.

Magpul Pmags the #1 AR15 magazine

Magpul Pmags are the most durable and reliable AR15 magazine and have extended the life of the direct impingement firearm. Magpul Pmags are available in Black, OD Green, Foliage and Dark Earth. We are a stocking dealer for all Magpul Accessories, gun grips, magazine accessories and gun stocks. Our inventory of Magpul Pmags are also available in 10rd, 20rd and 30rd magazine capacities.

Everyone seems to think that the AR15 always uses 30rd magazines, but for those that have trained, there is something that balances out the M4 Carbine very well by using 20rd round magazines. The Magpul Pmags that we sell are the most reliable AR15 magazines and there is lots of proof if you do your research on the internet or Youtube. Magpul Pmag durability is superb and the AR15 magazines are available in Black, Dark Earth, Foliage and OD Green.  There is a new generation 3 pmag that is coming out very soon.

Magazines and Magazines with windows

I learned a very long time ago to be careful what you say when you are in the middle of a fight.  I’m no combat veteran but it was good that I learned my lesson a paintball course and not on the battlefield.  When you are running low on ammunition the last thing you do is announce it in the middle of an engagement.   A long time ago I, along with a friend of mine were in the middle of a paintball engagement and it was the last battle of the day.  We were both running low on paintball ammunition and the odds were against us.  The teams were 14 vs 15 and the two of us had 9 of the 15 players coming towards us.  We both had less than 40rds left and none of our fellow team members were around to back us up.

As we were engaged and almost cornered my friend retreated to my position and yelled “i’m almost out of ammo, I only have about 20 paintballs left” I announced ” I only have 20 paintballs left. Meanwhile It hit me like a ton of bricks that that was the last thing I should have annouced to 75% of the team, after that I learned to keep my mouth shut, but having magpul pmags  with the windows was something I thought about after that day.  Knowing approximately how many rounds of ammuntion you have left before you move forward in an engagement is a good thing.  Under stress it’s real hard to tell if you put 8rds off or 15rds.  Knowing you are half full rather than finding out you made a forward advance with 3rds left in the magazine.

Bushmaster response to magpul pmags

I have a bushmaster XM15E2 that was my first AR15 that I purchased almost 10yrs ago.  I got it just to fit in with the crowd of people that were harping on me for owning a Mini 14.  I still love my Mini 14s and I’ve gotten far more out of them than most people get.   I’ve done plenty of reloading tests with the gun and gotten MOA with several of them.  The 62SCBT round seems to be the best all around bullet for  my Mini 14s and I usually get close to 2 MOA with a cool barrel.   The 1-9 twist is probable the most common twist rate for .223 guns.

The thing that made me move on from the Mini 14 were the amount of stories coming from serious trainers and shooters that said they “never saw one make it through a class”.   That meant something and I picked up the Bushmaster XM15E2 and some magpul pmags along with several USGI 30rd magazines.   I have seen a lot of malfunctions on firing ranges with the GI magazines.  I guess because they were so cheap but going from Mini 14 PMI magazines to USGI magazines just didn’t make sense.   The Magpul Pmags pretty much resolved the flimsy USGI magazines durability issues.

Fighting Carbines and knowing when you are running empty

I never really bothered with the pmags with the windows until I started taking Carbine courses.  I try to take at least 2 per year just to get use to the anxiety that is common with not being on the range very often but this is all part of my mental training.   As some of you know not everyone has gotten into owning firearms just for the fun of it or for some type of hobby.   Some of us have been on the receiving end of the bad elements of society and our eyes have become open.

When it comes to fighting under stress the notion of feeling recoil is null and probable several pounds of gun isn’t going to bother you, atleast for a little while.  There have been times I have known my magpul pmags were running low because I was not under stress and I could feel the difference in weight when I turned the gun, but under stress it’s best to just look at your magazines and know where you are at.  If you see less than 10rds or it’s 1/3 full you might want to do a tactical reload.   If not, you have assurance your gun won’t run empty.

Firepower vs balance

There are many things that in theory are nice but in reality just don’t work.   I remember the first time I fired a Glock 45acp which was 13rds + 1 for a total of 14rds and the thing just seemed too heavy.  If I wore that in a leg holster or thigh rig it would be too much.  There are so many arguments in the handgun world that I just don’t engage in because the truth of the situation that usually ends the caliber debates is ” get a Carbine” and forget about  your 9mm vs 45acp  or .357 Sig debates.

For home defense I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want a carbine or shotgun with a light on it vs a handgun.  Ballistics test show us time and time again that loading up your  magpul pmags with 30rds and frangible ammuntion is a better thing to use in a modern home than a 38 special or 9mm handgun.  A better thing would be the 20rd magpul pmags which give you a stronger magazine but better balance and easier maneuverability than a larger protruding magazine.   After all, what firearm has 20rds and has the balance of an M4 Carbine?

Stop screwing around with those inferior gun magazines

I just pulled out one of my gun cases and noticed that I had a couple 30rd magazines still in it.   I never stow loaded magazines in gun cases, but there have been times that I have gone to gun ranges and realized I had a bunch of Mini 14 magazines and not the GI AR15 magazines I thought they were.   I still have a few GI magazines laying around but I never bring them to the range.   It’s funny that I view my AR15s in a different light now that I have been using PMAGS.   Almost a decade ago I use to spend a lot my weekends at a gun range about an hour from me, and use to watch the guys with the AR15’s in amazement because of how much money they had tied up in the firearms.

I finally broke down and picked up a Bushmaster XM15E2 and took it to the range.   I must have had close to 6 malfunctions with it the first month I shot the thing and almost retired the gun.   I heard about Magpul Pmags after a friend sent me the link to a Youtube video.  I picked up one magazine because I didn’t want to end up getting screwed if they weren’t good, well, needless to say I ended up picking up more magazines a few more AR15s.  Magpul industries really has their stuff in order when it means creating combat reliable magazines and accessories.

Not just about weight but also about balance

There are many things you can do to mess up the balance of your M4 Carbine.   Most people I know that own an AR15 rifle now are toting an M4 Carbine variant and it is rarely an A2 version.   Just about everyone know has  a fore grip on their guns, but in all honesty most of those never seem to feel right.   I have always been use to the traditional AR15 rifle and never felt the need to put a vertical grip on them but I have recently become a fan of the Mapgul Angled Foregrips.   Sometimes it take a good training course to really test your gear out and many times it means adjusting the stock you have or moving the foregrips forward or back.

I have seen numerous times that guys ended up with failed gear or ended up taking some gear off of their Carbines by mid-day.   Some of best training I have done was by a teacher that told us that we could not drop gear or take it back to our car, we had to leave all of are accessories and even magpul pmags with us or in a bag.   It was an important lesson about not over packing and thinking about what you really need to use.   There is no reason to load up 13 pmags when you probable won’t need that even if you’re going to shoot that many rounds, 6-8 magazines is a lot and speed loaders and boxed ammo is an easier way to pack.

Customization of Firearms, fun, but necessary

Even since the AR15 got shortened down to the M4 Carbine, many in the Military and Law Enforcement have realized that there are ways to improve upon the design for the operators advantage.  No longer is an individual issued a rifle and forced to adjust to the stock length.  I have several World War II Vets and Korean War Vets that have told me that they actually hated shooting the M1 Garand and the BAR rifles.  All of those individuals were  under 5’6″ and it was pretty obvious to me as to why they didn’t like it.  They claimed that they couldn’t hit a darn thing with it, but anyone that is a firearm instructor knows that this is probable true.

Nobody starts a 7yr old kid out with a full size bolt action rifle and expects them to shoulder it, now that we have the M4 Carbine in service the stocks are adjustable.   Not just body size, but the types of things you may be wearing like a vest, armor ect can affect LOP.  Magpul Stocks and Accessories are our number one selling stock accessories and and everything from trigger guards to gun grips can be customized.  Body sizes and preferences mean a world of a difference for an operator to become proficient.

Magpul accessories more fun than dressing up your date to the Prom

We’ve pruned some of gun magazines accessories down a little bit in 2011 based mostly on which products sold, and secondly on which products we got the least complaints about.  Breakage and fit issues is something we really don’t like dealing with because many of the times it was the customer breaking the part while trying to put it on the gun.  It seems to be better these days because quality control in machining has improved but its not a battle we want to deal with every week when people come back with the same products and tell us the part was broken when they got it, when we know that it wasn’t.

Magpul makes some really nice gun sights for the M4 Carbine and they are in the top 3 category with Troy sights.  There are differences in optics sights and having folding sights vs fixed sights is something that comes up fairly often.  Magpul pmags are in their own category and there is very little reason to think about using anything but these gun mags.   You can actually help camoflauge your firearm by picking certain color variations that help break up the look.  Foliage green, OD green an Flat dark earth as well as Black are available for all of the Pmags.
