Bushmaster response to magpul pmags

I have a bushmaster XM15E2 that was my first AR15 that I purchased almost 10yrs ago.  I got it just to fit in with the crowd of people that were harping on me for owning a Mini 14.  I still love my Mini 14s and I’ve gotten far more out of them than most people get.   I’ve done plenty of reloading tests with the gun and gotten MOA with several of them.  The 62SCBT round seems to be the best all around bullet for  my Mini 14s and I usually get close to 2 MOA with a cool barrel.   The 1-9 twist is probable the most common twist rate for .223 guns.

The thing that made me move on from the Mini 14 were the amount of stories coming from serious trainers and shooters that said they “never saw one make it through a class”.   That meant something and I picked up the Bushmaster XM15E2 and some magpul pmags along with several USGI 30rd magazines.   I have seen a lot of malfunctions on firing ranges with the GI magazines.  I guess because they were so cheap but going from Mini 14 PMI magazines to USGI magazines just didn’t make sense.   The Magpul Pmags pretty much resolved the flimsy USGI magazines durability issues.

Fighting Carbines and knowing when you are running empty

I never really bothered with the pmags with the windows until I started taking Carbine courses.  I try to take at least 2 per year just to get use to the anxiety that is common with not being on the range very often but this is all part of my mental training.   As some of you know not everyone has gotten into owning firearms just for the fun of it or for some type of hobby.   Some of us have been on the receiving end of the bad elements of society and our eyes have become open.

When it comes to fighting under stress the notion of feeling recoil is null and probable several pounds of gun isn’t going to bother you, atleast for a little while.  There have been times I have known my magpul pmags were running low because I was not under stress and I could feel the difference in weight when I turned the gun, but under stress it’s best to just look at your magazines and know where you are at.  If you see less than 10rds or it’s 1/3 full you might want to do a tactical reload.   If not, you have assurance your gun won’t run empty.

Magpul gun parts and magazines

Magpul gun parts and accessories as well as the famous Pmags are outstanding gun parts.   There are so many modifications that you can customize your M16 or AR15 variant in multiple color patters or configurations.    Everything from gun grips, rail skins or rail covers, trigger guards ect are high quality and combat worthy if you install them properly.  Because of the numerous accessories that you can put in an M4 you can’t really just buy 3 rail covers and expect them to fit in the accessory pattern that you want.   Some of the accessories might cause  you to need medium covers or full length.  Sometimes the quad rail configuration is useful, but if the job does not need all of the lasers or light attachments why carry the weight.

There are several patterns of rail covers and there are several companies out there making good stuff but just remember that you are carrying a combat weapon and the more you attach, the more things fall off.   Magpul pmags are the number 1 rifle magazine in our book and we highly recommend them to all of our fellow shooters and customers.  The 30rd magazines with the windows seem to be very popular but in my opinion I don’t think it’s that necessary to know if you have 8rds left in a magazine or not.   The answer is to carry enough mags to know a tactical reload is possible instead of looking to see you have 8 left.
