There are considerable differences between the Gen 2 and Gen 3 pmags and it’s not just the look but there are composite material improvements so that the Gen 3 magazine lips are stronger and don’t crack when loaded for long periods of time.
Everyone seems to think that the AR15 always uses 30rd magazines, but for those that have trained, there is something that balances out the M4 Carbine very well by using 20rd round magazines.
