Expanding TruSpec product line into 2012

We have been continuing our expansion of the TruSpec product line in our store and online.   Many of the new soft shell products like the TruSpec tactical soft shell and the 3 in 1 Parkas are flying out the door, but the TruSpec tactical polos are the new products we are bringing in.  The color options are much larger with the TruSpec product line and we have heard from more than a number of our customers that they need white or tan color polos which is something many of our previous product lines did not have.   The TruSpec polos are lighter weight than the Woolrich Elite polos which is something that many have asked us for.  These tactical polos are slightly longer than some of the other polos you might find in a store.

There are many other new tactical shirts coming in this Fall and we will continue to add to our product line.   We are always looking for customer feedback about which product they want and the truspec shirts we are  now carrying was something that our customer have asked for.   There is a new conealed carry shirt that is very different in desing than the Eotac and Woolrich Elite product line but it also has a very office friendly look to it.   We have heard there is a new TruSpec tactical shirt coming out as well as another lightweight tactical vest.   Keep your eyes on the website and join our newsletter for up to date information.

Finding a comfortable shirt that holds up to wear

I was never a big fan of tactical clothing up until about 2008 and I had lots of experience with 5.11 tactical gear and Woolrich Elite products.  5.11 tactical pants have a well known reputation as being the leading tactical pant that everything else is compared to.  Quality from t he behemoth of a company has absolutely waned and it is obvious that people were looking for something more.  While the tactical pants market is pretty much bottle up, the tactical shirt market is wide open.  I personally think there are more opportunities to make a better shirt than ever before.

Most tactical shirts feel like a uniform and are not very comfortable to wear.  The only tactical shirts that I really still like are the Woolrich Elite 44901 short sleeve tactical shirts.  These have a vented back and have a very loose feel.  They had a great shirt called the zip up instructor shirt but for some odd reason it was discontinued.   It was basically the same shirt as the 44901 but had a zip up shirt with false buttons which made it look like  a regular tactical shirt but great for hot weather or even for wearing over a shoulder rig.

These shirts look great

The Woolrich Elite concealed carry shirts are really nice and we’re surprised to see how many shirts they have made.   I guess it was an easy switch to change their product line over from the Woolrich Elite main line to the Woolrich Elite Series tactical line.   The 44916 seems to be the best CCW shirt that came out last year although they did discontinue the 44915 and the 44913 shirts.  Those shirts are now on sale at a discount but they are still in stock. The velcro side flaps are somewhat boring but the shirts are a great bargain and better looking than what I see from Blackhawk and 5.11 tactical.

The newest ccw shirts from Woolrich are the best yet.   These have magnetic false buttons that you might want to use a shoulder holster or something like a deep cover concealment shirt.   The Woolrich Elite CCW shirts we have are very different in pattern and look to the 2011 ccw shirts and they are hands down the best ones.  I always recommend anyone that is using a shirt for ccw should avoid throwing them in dryers and let them hang dry.  We have not gotten any complaints about shrinkage on these shirts but it will slow down the inevitable shrinkage that occurs with all clothing.

The running man… Carbine fighting

tactical pantsMost handguns blow holes in targets, a good .223 Carbine with a fragmenting bullet is going to tear up a BG.   I strongly suggest putting a white light on any carbine just incase you need it to identify a target.   Many of the people we see on the training courses always think that handguns are for home defense and never really thought too much about keeping a Carbine available.  You may have some problems finding a safe to lock up your rifle, but there are things you can do to keep it away from children and still have quick access.   One of the most common things we still see with new operators is dropped gear.  Guys show up with holsters for sidearms that don’t retain the firearms, and spare pistol mags end up sitting somewhere in midrange after a quick running scenario.   The first time I wore a pair of Style 201 pants, I loaded up 6-30rd AR mags and ran around the neighborhood.   I wanted to see if the lightweight material secured the mags in place.   I was blown away at how well they were secured and I didn’t feel lop sided if I ran.  The Style 201 pants are now available in Digital camo and coming later this fall they will be available in the new Direct Action A-Tacs pattern.

I’ve discussed this topic several times before, but I’ve seen more examples of gear that failed and operators that had a teachable moment.   Its no surprise that Rogue Elite sponsors a few firearms instructors and training groups.   We are supplying our Instructors with Eotac Style 202, Style 203 and Style 201 tactical pants.    Since we’re well into the warm weather season, most of our Instructors and Operators are working with the Style 201 Operator grade pants.    I have to admit that I am more inclined to attend Carbine courses over Pistol courses.    I guess you should consider the Rogue Elite Team to think a Carbine is a better thing to fight with than a handgun.   To quote Clint Smith, “A handgun is to be used so you can fight your way back to your rifle”.    If you take a serious look at the survival rate of handgun victims vs rifle uses,  there is considerable evidence to suggest that you may want to seriously consider upgrading your home defense weapon to a shotgun or a carbine.   Bad guys showing  up on PCP or pumped up on crack aren’t going to be concerned 9mm bullets unless you get a really good shot.

Work shirts for concealment

Tactical ShirtsIt doesn’t get any better than this for those of you working in the blue collar neighborhoods or that actually could get away with wearing one of these at work.   The Eotac Style 409 Mechanic shirt is one of the most original concealment and tactical shirts we’ve seen this year.   There are plenty of uniform tactical shirts out there from 5.11, Woolrich Elite, Proper ect. but this one takes concealment into a different niche.

The Eotac Mechanic shirt can make you look like a pizza delivery person, auto mechanic or a plumber or you can customize a name and sew it onto the shirt.    These are great ways to blend in or upgrade your traditional work clothes for tactical shirts that make accessing a firearm much easier.   The two lower buttons on the shirt are fall and with a quick motion of the hand the shirt will lift up and reduce the chances of snagging on anything will retrieving your weapon.  The Mechanic concealment shirt comes in Black, Gray and Navy.

Hobbies, accessories and reasons

Tactical GearThere area a lot of good upgrades one can do to a firearm, a fighting rifle should be customized to fit an operator.  Advanced Technology makes some quick and easy upgrades for your shotgun or carbine that can give you better grip or balance.  Shotgun shell holders on the buttstock or riding side saddle is a practical tactical upgrade you can do on your remington 870.  The fiberforce stock for the MAK90 is a way to legally get around some firearm bans and are a big step up compared to the stupid thumbhole stocks.    Attach a rifle sling that fits yoru purpose from Blue Force Gear, they come in 1 point, 2 point and 3 point attachements. Minor firearm modifications make need to be done to attache rifle slings, but do some research on various rifle sling configurations to see what works for you.

We’ve all seen the massive accessorizing of firearms in recent years.   Firearms likes SKS rifle and Mini 14s are not immune to the firearm attachements and modifications that have run rampant in the AR15 community.   In my opinion, there are a lot of firearm owners out there that had their Legos taken away from them and they brought that mindset into gun accessorizing and tactical gear stockpiling.    That’s about as harsh as I can be about why people do what they do to their firearms, but some of it is for hobbie reasons, some for practical reasons, and some because people have the obsessive compulsive behavior of needing to spend money.

Tactical Shooting Sports acquires new dress code

Tactical ShirtsWhat else is new about this shirt? This new polo shirt has unique sleeve designs giving you a better range of motion without feeling your shirt move around.    The combination of raglan sleeves, one piece underarm gusset and side panels, and our Eotac’s Tact-Fit Sizing means unique comfort.  If you’ve been looking for a lighterweight polo shirt from Eotac, this is what you waited for.  The Style 410 Polo will be available in, Black, Khaki, Navy, Red, Light blue, Royal Blue, Grey, Hunter Green,  and the much waited for…. White Polo.

We just got word that the company known as Eotac has a new polo shirt coming out.   The new Men’s operator grade shooting sports polo was a good move on the part of Eotac.   We’ve seen their tactical polo shirts as well as other companies tactical shirts, but it’s nice to see something a little dressier and not LEO or military looking.  Some of the other polo shirts we’ve seen on the market were a little heavy and you’ll notice that in the summer months.  For those of us that need to be dressed up and can’t go to work or the office in an Iron Maiden T-shirt,  the Eotac shooting sports polo is another option.  If you are on a shooting team at your gun club, this may be something you’ll want to show off and get embroidered.   There are 9 colors coming out in 2010.

Concealed Carry Instructor shirt

Tactical ShirtsThe Eotac zip up shirt is also very popular amongst firearm instructors because the back  is  mesh lined vented bi-swing which provides you with freedom of movement and maximum air flow.   Many of our customers that work on the training courses like the ability to zip it down just because it gets hot.  The front left pocket has a pen pocket as well as the left shoulder sleeve.  On the long sleeve 402 version you can roll up and button the sleeves is it is warming up on you.  If you are a firearm instructor this is the shirt you should have in your closet.

We know that many companies out there refer to everything as concealed carry or tactical, but most of us that work in the industry can spot a gun owner about 90% of the time if we see a clip on knife in a pocket, keeps adjusting their belt, wearing 5.11 type pants ect.      The company known as EOTAC has put some inovative apparel on the market and one of my favorite shirts to this day is the 401 short sleeve shirt.   Due to the false buttons and zip up shirt, you can literally wear a should holster under this shirt and still be able to retrieve your weapon with a quick zip down of the shirt.   The 402 Eotac shirt is the long sleeve version.  Both tactical shirts will work in moderate temperatures and we’ve found this shirt to be an excellent option for deep cover concealement especially in the winter.
