Tactical vests for range use and for low profile LEO’s
We have seen the tactical clothing market explode in the last 10yrs and have seen companies come and go. Some of the companies we sold products for were really original and well made but they just didn’t get their foot in the door and gain traction. Some of the products were, even though well made, not easy to sell online because people wanted to hold it in their hands or try it on to make sure it fit them. Some of the sizing issues aren’t just about chest sizing it’s also arm lengths and waist tolerances. I have been using the Woolrich Elite 44903 tactical vest for almost 8yrs and it has very good durability and very comfortable compared to some molle vests.
The 44903 vest is a cotton canvas tactical vest and has so many pockets that only a well organized individual won’t have problems losing his gear in it. You will have a place for a radio, water bottles and the Woolrich Elite Series tactical vest has plenty of room to hold 4-8 magpul pmags depending on how you stack them. The new Gen 3 pmags are a little thinner so you will easily be able to stack on 8 magazines and even more depending on how crafty you are with your pocket usage. The rear pocket, I find is good for elbow pads and gloves.

Most handguns blow holes in targets, a good .223 Carbine with a fragmenting bullet is going to tear up a BG. I strongly suggest putting a white light on any carbine just incase you need it to identify a target. Many of the people we see on the training courses always think that handguns are for home defense and never really thought too much about keeping a Carbine available. You may have some problems finding a safe to lock up your rifle, but there are things you can do to keep it away from children and still have quick access. One of the most common things we still see with new operators is dropped gear. Guys show up with holsters for sidearms that don’t retain the firearms, and spare pistol mags end up sitting somewhere in midrange after a quick running scenario. The first time I wore a pair of Style 201 pants, I loaded up 6-30rd AR mags and ran around the neighborhood. I wanted to see if the lightweight material secured the mags in place. I was blown away at how well they were secured and I didn’t feel lop sided if I ran. The Style 201 pants are now available in Digital camo and coming later this fall they will be available in the new Direct Action A-Tacs pattern.
Everyone has there taste and styles in firearms and even some have their preferences in the type of ammunition and bullet weights. Some operators prefer to dress in black and prefer to look as tactical as possible while others just can’t figure out why they would need a tactical vest in the first place. Some tactical vests are about as comfortable as strapping on a parachute and not always modernized.
This style of vest was designed for security contractors that don’t want to wear the heavy chest rigs ect. that standing Army usually wear. The Eotac field vest style 103 is more of a tactical casual vest that is similiar in design to the Eotac Field Jacket. The Style 103 Field Vest is also an excellent hunting or outdoor outerwear to securely hold flashlights, magazines, knives, pepper spray, tools, hunting and fishing gear.
The Eotac Field Jacket has plent of accessorie pockets and is better designed that your Grandads military jacket. The snap buttons don’t wear out or sound as loud as velcro and this is a great top layer to wear in cold climates where standard winter jackets make carry gear troublesome. We can this jacket is for everyone, and you’ll need to wear heavy clothing or a nice base layer if you are thinking of wearing this in 20F weather, but if you need to carry a gun on your waist this jacket breaks open very easily and can still make winter carry easier than other jacket types. The front pockets will help fulfill your needs if you are carrying a knife or flashlight with the well placed internal elastic bands. The snap buttons will also make sure you know your gear is fastened tightly.
That is the question an Operator may ask themselves while out in the field. There are a lot of so called tactical vests on the market, and there are also several military surplus assault vests, too. Sometimes some of these are good for something, but not always in the best condition or won’t go very well with your present line of tactical clothing. GMG Global Military Gear makes a nice tactical vest that has the ability to retain a sidearm on the front pocket as well as hold several pistol magazines and carbine magazines.
