Military clothing vs CCW apparel

I hear people say all the time that a certain type of clothing is a “shoot me now” vest or a shoot me now jacket.   I don’t think that is really that big of a deal in many circumstances because there have been many types I’ve been to a mall in the winter and I have seen a skinny pot smoking kid in a military style camo jacket.   Most of those guys aren’t packing firearms and I doubt a bank robber or a terrorist is going to shoot them first because they are wearing military clothing.   I think looking healthy and having good muscle mass is more likely to get you shot first rather than have a fishing vest or a camoflauge jacket on.  TrusSpec makes some nice multicam products namely their new tactical pants.

There have been some really nice jackets and coats in the past and I have no idea why they stopped making them because some of them were really nice.  The SigTac jackets were a huge seller a few years ago, the Woolrich Elite Barn Coat and the Woolrich Elite Algerian Jackets were also very popular but some of them were discontinued.  The Eotac field jacket was basically and improved version of the Woolrich elite product line but that also faded out.  This year our two best selling outwear jackets are the Woolrich Elite Twill jacket and the Woolrich Elite Algerian jacket.   The Woolrich Elite Series Tactical algerian jacket is a military style jacket that has that look but it also has a lot of functionality that works well for carry a firearm.

Winter Jackets and carrying gear

Tactical JacketsI’ve gotten the questions numerous times about what kind of jacket is best for winter carry.   I’m not one to suggest that carrying a firearm in an outwear jacket is a good idea.   There are expensive jackets out there where you can carry a gun and retain it in the jacket, but weight distribution is almost always an issue.  Sometimes people need to realize that winter carry isn’t going to be as easy as summer carry because cold environments are going to mean big jackets or multiple layers of clothing.

One new option that may help you in your search for a spring/fall/winter carry option is the new Eotac Field Jacket, this is a very military looking jackets, but has a tactical jacket look that is a great thing to wear over layers of winter clothing.   The Eotac Field Jacket is not a very heavy jacket even though it may look like it.   The Field Jacket has multiple pockets for knives, flashlights, cell phones, pepper spray and spare magazines.   The field jacket does not hang very lowe on the waiste so it  may not be good for some ways of carrying, but even if this jacekt is zipped up, the front of the jacket is cut in a manor where reaching under and retrieving a firearm from a should holster or belt holster is not that difficult.

Elite Operator Tactical Jacket

Tactical JacketsThe Eotac Field Jacket has plent of accessorie pockets and is better designed that your Grandads military jacket.   The snap buttons don’t wear out or sound as loud as velcro and this is a great top layer to wear in cold climates where standard winter jackets make carry gear troublesome.    We can this jacket is for everyone, and you’ll need to wear heavy clothing or a nice base layer if you are thinking of wearing this in 20F weather, but if you need to carry a gun on your waist this jacket breaks open very easily and can still make winter carry easier than other jacket types.   The front pockets will help fulfill your needs if you are carrying a knife or flashlight with the well placed internal elastic bands.  The snap buttons will also make sure you know your gear is fastened tightly.

The new tactical apparel company called Eotac has a new tactical jacket on the market.   The reviews we’ve gotten from our customers good.   We’ve seen a few similiar style jackets like this, but we have the least complaints and returns compared to similiar style tactical jackets.    Many in the concealed carry market are always looking for something that is concealed carry friendly and  not too tactical, but when you have something that looks so stylish and historically cool looking and works for your image, well, why worry.   Not every person wearing camoflauge is carrying an M16 or M9 on them so you don’t always have to be that concerned that you’ll get noticed.
